Average payout (EV)
The average market value of what comes out of a pack, as a share of its price. A $100 pack with 85% EV returns $85 of cards on average. Sites that publish odds and card values let you check it yourself.

The four numbers that matter
House edge
What the site keeps on average: 100% minus the EV. At 85% EV the house edge is 15%. It pays for grading, storage and the site’s margin.
Buyback fee
Selling a pull back usually costs 6–20% of its value. That fee stacks on the house edge: 85% EV with a 10% buyback fee leaves you 76.5% of the pack price.
Credit versus cash
A buyback paid in site credit, coins or gems can only buy more packs. Treat it as worth less than cash, and check whether the site lets you withdraw at all.
